Opportunity Knocks For U15 Boys Academy
Submitted By Danielle Byers on Wednesday, October 11, 2017
Sometimes in sport and in life, opportunities present themselves which one must take advantage of.  That is what happened with the U15 Kitchener Elite Academy Boys team this past Thanksgiving weekend.  They were given the opportunity to play in the season ending Regional Tournament hosted by SWRSA at Guelph University.  This tournament hosted the top 1st place teams from the surrounding regions (Brampton East Blades (GHSL), Woodbridge (CSL) and Kingston United (ERSL).  Kitchener jumped at the chance to compete against some of the best talent/teams in the province, and as a result were rewarded for their efforts with a 1st Place Finish!

The U15 Kitchener Academy only were accepted into the tournament as 1st place finishers, London Whitecaps were at the National Championships and Windsor FC (2nd Place) declined the invitation.

Kitchener opened their first game with a 3 -1 win against the 2016 Nationals Champions, Brampton East Blades.  The 2nd game on Saturday had Kitchener up against Kingston United, which saw them put together a dominant performance and win the game by a margin of 6 – 1.   The final game on Sunday would be a winner take all affair with Woodbridge earning a pair of wins in their two opening games.  Woodbridge, this years Ontario Cup finalists, were up for the challenge and took the lead in the fist half on a penalty shot.  Kitchener, down 1 – 0, were not going to let this opportunity slip away.  They showed their resiliency, determination and quality scoring twice in the 2nd half with goals coming from Daniel Amorim and Dominik Lojewski.  What a way to finish off the season.  Congrats Boys!
